AI receptionist

An AI receptionist is a voice agent that answers a business's phone line, understands what the caller wants from natural speech, and either resolves the request or transfers the caller to the right person.

Unlike a phone tree, it does not ask the caller to press keys. In healthcare, a well-built AI receptionist says it is an AI, handles emergencies before anything else, gives no medical advice, and connects anyone who asks for a person.
