Warm transfer

A warm transfer is a call transfer in which the person receiving the call is told who is calling and why before the caller is connected.

It contrasts with a cold transfer, where the caller is simply sent to another line. A warm transfer means the caller does not repeat themselves, and it makes it possible to know whether a person actually picked up.
